You’ve probably heard lots of people claiming they’ve made £1k, £2k, £3k, £5k or even £10k plus from matched betting…
Not to toot my own horn, but for those that don’t know, I’m a member of the £150k+ club! Wanna learn more? I’ve documented my journey since I started in June 2020, through my Betting Reports.
One way in which people like to share their success in the matched betting world, is to post on different forums, such as Outplayed.com or OddsMonkey.
I know everyone either won’t be members of these forums, be interested in scrolling through or just never thought about looking at them. But let me tell you, whilst most of it is waffle from people who don’t really know what they’re doing, but there are some really interesting posts in there.
I decided to go through the Outplayed forum and compile some of my favourite posts, to give some inspiration from other people who are matched betting.
I’ve already put together my list of favourites from the £1k club, 3k club, 5k club and 10k club.
Disclaimer: I have given each person a nickname, rather than using their actual username – just for privacy reasons as this is for inspiration, not a display case of successful bettors.
Anyway, let’s get into some of the posts I found in the £25k club…

So I have been ahem ‘consulting’ for two friends and family members’ matched betting sets of accounts.
In regards to whether or not to do extra places to protect accounts my answer is this: With my bet365 I had for pretty much one football season. I made 7k from extra places. And 1k from 2ups in that time. If someone said keep the account for 2ups I would say ‘Not get gubbed for 7 seasons? Unlikely.’ That said in hindsight my stakes were too high and I sometimes did two in big races because 365 always had the best IO.
I understand trying to protect the 365 at all costs but for example my friend only did 2ups with lower stakes and got gubbed relatively swiftly this season. There is no definitive way to know what leads to a gubbing other than the fact that consistently taking value puts you at risk.
365 was hard to resist for extra places because it always has the highest prices, regular extra extra places and the ability to add an extra extra place for a price cut. i.e. backing at 71.0 for 5 places or 61.0 for 6 places.

Pre covid i was going to get an extra part time job to give me and my family some hope of saving for a house, i was buying trash from charity shops and selling it on ebay at the time and made a whopping £60 doing that, an extra part time job may have bought me about £200-£300pm but would have meant time away from home and my young girls.
Enter MB and just under 2 years later im writing in here. This has been quite literally life changing. Using periods of furlough i managed to set myself up as if this was my own business, hours studying the likes of 2ups and EP’s and i now have the tools and capability to make enough money to mean my partner does not have to work a weekend job in a cafe and i can do this as my extra part time job to help us save for the ultimate life changer, a house (and a dog for the girls).
To anyone reading who is on a similar journey my advice would be this. Treat this like a job, if you want to change your life (and you actually can) then put the effort in.
My numbers are dwarfed by others on PA but as my 4th rule says ‘perspective’ i think it is important to not underestimate what you can achieve and what your numbers may mean to you. Sorry for the full on essay but it may be a while until the next club and i remember in the early days barely allowing myself to dream of these numbers.
