This is a great tax-free money maker, but it’s important to understand how it works so you don’t fall victim to the most common mistakes in matched betting.
Because let me tell you, these bookies are smart and they can see an idiot coming from a mile off, so don’t let that be you…
So let me tell you about the most common matched betting mistakes.
Let’s get into it…
Most Common Mistakes in Matched Betting
1. Insufficient Understanding of the Concept:
One of the most common mistakes in matched betting that I see with beginners make is diving into matched betting without a solid understanding of how it works. It’s crucial to invest time in learning the principles, terminology, and strategies involved in matched betting before placing any bets. Educate yourself through reliable resources, tutorials, and forums to avoid costly errors.
An example is betting on William hill over 2 shots on target and dutching against under 1.5 shots
Over 2 is 2.5 so you need to Dutch the 2.5.
Don’t worry I made that mistake, and view this giff here to help you make sense of all that
2. Inadequate Bankroll Management:
I see many bettors make the mistake of using their entire bankroll on a single offer, leaving themselves vulnerable to losses. It’s important to allocate a portion of your bankroll for each offer and ensure you have enough funds to cover any potential liabilities.
I do this all the time lol. I’ll place a back bet, go the exchange and I’ll have like £1.23 in there, so I’ll need to deposit. I always check before starting that each bookies and exchange has enough money in there
3. Failing to Double-Check Bets:
Accuracy is key in matched betting. Always double-check your bets before placing them to avoid errors. Ensure you’ve entered the correct odds, stake, and selections. Small mistakes can lead to significant losses or missed opportunities for profits.
As far as the most common mistakes in matched betting go, this is one I fell victim to a few times. A small oversight can lead to losses so please make sure you’re paying attention!
4. Ignoring Terms & Conditions:
Each promotion has specific requirements and restrictions that must be followed. Failing to comply with the terms may result in the loss of the promotion or even account restrictions. Take the time to carefully review the terms before participating in any offer.
This may be one of the more boring most common mistakes in matched betting, but it’s up there with one of the most important! Bookies will find you if break their T&C’s.
5. Overlooking Gubbing Risks:
Gubbing refers to when bookmakers restrict or close accounts of matched bettors. Some bettors ignore the risks associated with matched betting and engage in strategies that may attract bookmakers’ attention.
To mitigate gubbing risks, avoid constantly maxing out promotions, mix in regular betting activity, and maintain a natural betting pattern. Don’t know enough about gubbing? Check out my full guide on it here.
6. Chasing Losses:
Some bettors make the mistake of chasing losses by deviating from their planned strategies. Avoid the temptation to chase losses as it can lead to impulsive decisions and potential financial losses. Stick to your planned approach and trust in the long-term profitability of matched betting.
7. Neglecting Continuous Learning:
Failing to stay updated with the latest information and learning from experienced bettors can limit your potential earnings. Dedicate time to continuously educate yourself, participate in forums, and stay informed about industry trends.
Basically, don’t be an arrogant, know-it-all twat (lol).
